Default Need help finding a 43MM axle socket

So my u-joints at the front wheels of my 4wd are shot. I am ready to replace them but I cannot find a 43MM socket or any similiar tool to remove the castle nut holding the axle/bearing assembly in. (whatever you want to call it, you know what i mean) I've checked at the local autozone and they didn't have one that will work. Any suggestions of where I could get an economical socket to do the job? Thanks, I appreciate the help.

Sears, Lowes, Home Depot, Harbor Frieght, or look for one of the various tool trucks like Snap-on, Mac, etc that go to the local shops.

I agree with all those sources as well, except for Harbor Freight.

I just found one thats 1 and 11/16 on napa.com. Unfortunately my flats measure exactly 1.687 on the nut.

Actually there is SOME decent stuff at harbor freight, you just have to see it in person and use your judgement. I buy some stuff there that I know I wont be using on a regular basis but would still be nice to have.

Do NOT even think about using an S.A.E socket on a metric bolt/nut and vice-versa. Make sure you know exactly what size you need.

You're talking about a nut that is most likely torqued to 175 ft pounds. Which by the way, you'll need to put it to when you put it back on. Hopefully you've got a good torque wrench.

IF I i could get the 1 and 11/16 socket to go on, it would be a better fit than the 43MM. The key word is IF. It is something I will probably try. .005" difference is nothing on a nut that size.

43MM = 1.693"
1 and 11/16 = 1.688"

couldn't find the right sized socket to do mine so i welded up my own. cut up 8 pieces of stainless flat bar the size of each face then tacked it around the nut pulled it off and welded it up solid. then put it in 6" length of square tube with two holes drilled in two ends so i could put a long bar through it and use it like a breaker bar. worked beautifully breaking nuts that haven't moved in 10 years.
for putting them back on later i cut it back out of the square tube and welded it to the closest sized socket i had with a 1/2" drive to torque them on

I gonna have a socket from napa by wednesday and am going to tackle it this weekend if I get a chance. My ram isn't my daily driver so its just sitting anyway. The 1 11/16 from napa should work. A lot of other places on the web label their axle sockets as both 1 11/16 and 43 mm, so it should work fine. Its only about 17 bucks too and you can use an impact with it.
