Default Fitting bed to 2001 Ram 1500.

Hey guys. I feel like I'm filling up the forum with all my questions!

But I'm wondering if a 2002 Dodge Ram short bed would fit in place of a 2001 Dodge ram short bed?

My bed in my 01 isn't in terrible shape but it does have some dings and some surface rust is showing so I've been looking into a new one. I like the styling of the 2002 bed I found but I wanted to check with you guys since, well... you know a lot more than I do!

Don't worry about filling up the site with questions, that's what we're here for.

I don't think it will work. 2001 was the last year of Gen 2 and then 2002 was the first year of Gen 3. Different body styles and other things.

Wow...good question. I'd really have to be there to measure it to give you a definitive answer. I'd also want to measure the wheelbase of both trucks (center of front hub to center of rear hub) to see if they are the same or very close otherwise the wheel won't be centered in the opening of the wheelwell on the 2002 bed.
