Thumbs down Verizon Ending New Every Two

Just saw this on Yahoo. Verizon is doing away with their New Every Two program effective 16 Jan. Exactly how this affects current customers waiting for their two years to be up so they can upgrade was unclear to me in the article. After reading the article if you are a Verizon customer I suggest you call Verizon using *611 and get clarification how the new change will affect you.

The article also said that in Feb Verizon will be offering the iPhone4 if you're interested in upgrading and would like to have the iPhone. I've never played with one so do not know its benefits or downsides. But I do know there are other phones that offer a lot of capability like the Droid models.

I'm still using my 7 year old cell phone . It's rugged and takes the abuse I give it . I've thought about up grading but not sure I like any of the new phones .

them bastids!!! You are right, Brian. The upgrades left to existing customers may or may not be in jeopardy depending on when they upgrade. It may be over January 16th but on InformationWeek.com a Verizon spokesperson says that "Nothing changes for existing customers who currently have a New Every Two credit."

So I guess I'll see when mine comes up. I've been with Verizon since before they were Verizon!!! May the best carrier win my business this next go around.

They did it right before the iPhone came out so that current Verizon customers couldn't get a lot of money off when doing the upgrade to a new phone. It's BS for anyone with them. I had an iPhone with At&t I liked the phone but 130 a month with a goverment employee discount was crazy! I went with Sprint, have the EVO 4G with everything for 70 a month.

Thanks for this find, Brian. I see that we will be leaving Verizon if this keeps up. I think big companies are getting bigger and have forgotten what made them big, the people that keep their business with them. Like Michael, when our contract is up we will see what happens then. We might go back to Sprint who has by far the GREATEST upgrade policy. We left them only because they didn't have great service where we live.

Nice. I just upgraded my phone and am locked in for another two years. It just might be time to a jump when the time comes up. This is crap. We are told we are the "best part of Verizon Wireless"....guess that is a lie too.
