Default Can't get engine back in !@!!!

What am I doing wrong? I can't get the engine and tranny to close that last 3/4 inch... 5.9 and 46 RE.
I simply pulled the engine to replace the freeze plugs.

Sounds like the alignment pins aren't lining up. You need someone to wiggle the motor and someone else to do the same with the trans. The back of the motor has to be level with the face of the trans too.

I'm about a half inch shy of the pins even hitting holes. I can get the two long bolts in but they bind up and I can't even rotate the crank pulley. I was so happy last night when I got the engine back on the cradle, but have messed with this all day and am not an inch closer to being done than when I started at nine am....

If it were me, I would take a deep breath, and just go over every step, even being a 1/8 of a inch off can hang you up, but like Rootbeer said the back of the motor has to be level with the tranny, don't force it even though you want to,,,,

Believe me...eight hours under that thing doesn't leave much untried..
Is there any way the torque converter could have gotten moved around so that the splines don't match up? I even went so far as to pull the engine back in the air to get more wiggle.

You really need some more bodies. Doing it yourself is an attempt in futility. Now if you really can't get anyone to help you. Here's what to do.

1. Get a floor jack under the trans.
2. Unbolt the trans
3. Drop the trans onto the floor jack
4. Marry the trans to the motor
5. Put the whole thing in as one piece

I may have to do that....boy that's a scary thought, working off my FEL.
I just can't for the life of me figure out what's going on. I get almost there and can't spin the torque converter.

STOP ! Don't force it together . Pull the motor back out and check and make sure the torque convertor didn't come out . It may of slid out a little bit and needs to be put back into place . If you force it together you end up ruining the pump in the transmission . While holding the torque convertor into the trans , spin it while applying slight pressure . You should feel it drop in .

Aha...
"Once the converter begins to engage the pump"

I bet this is the problem....
