Default best tuner for an 04.5 cummins

i have an 04.5 cummins automatic 4x4 quad cab. so far i have done a cold air intake,5" turbo back exhaust, and a fass fuel system. im looking for mileage MPG. what is the best tuner(electronics, chip) for this? and anything else i need to do to make this truck last ?

I'd look at the Banks iQ if you want an all inclusive tuner. You can couple it with their sixpack on the fly selector, and you can be seeing some good MPG gains. If you want some serious MPGs, i'd look at a propane injection system.

Making the motor last is a lot in the way you drive it. The diesels are meant to be driven hard, so don't baby the engine, if you're doing long hard hauls, I'd install a pyrometer, tranny and diff temp guages as well to to keep an eye on them. The diesels can run really hot and that's their biggest downfall when towing.

I had an Edge on my 04.5. Also was a 4x4 with an auto. I liked the way the truck performed for my particular needs. It had 3 positions you could choose from and you could change from one to another while driving. There are many other chips that will give you more power, so really it all depends on what you will be doing with your truck. I agree the next thing you need to do is install gauges in your truck--EGT, boost, and trans temp would be the basic group.

ill tell you one thing if you get the smarty and have an auto trans. do not turn the power levels high unless you have deep pockets.

Smarty is the way to go.. Quadzilla also makes a mileage max module that is said to work well.

I have the smarty jr and so far its performed perfectly. I run the 100hp tune unless I tow and get 19+mpg city driving. This should increase as the cummins breaks in. I only have 3200 miles on my truck. The no foot print is what sold me as well, good luck
