Default Passenger Window Error

Well, so far so good with my '02 Ram, however I am having an issue with the passenger side [PS] window and/or switch. Sometimes the [PS] window switch will not operate the window up and down, but the [DS] will. It's kind of a hit and miss issue because it'll just randomly start working again. Say I jump out of the truck for a minute and get back in with the truck running... I'll have my passenger hit the up or down button to operate the [PS] window and it'll work. Then, we will drive down the road for 10 minutes and I will have 'em try the window again and then it'll magically stop working. Sometimes if I shut the truck off and then turn it back on it will start working again, it's just so very random. The [DS] switches work for all the windows though. What could be my issue?

Thanks for any replies.

Sounds like a switch. Might have some dirt or dust in it. I'd try a can of compressed air like used for a computer keyboard to give it a gentle cleaning before trying to tear it down and replacing the switch.

Okay, I can try that. The switch itself feels strong and it clicks when pushed up and clicks when pushed down, but it could indeed be dusty or dirty.

Note: One thing I did notice just now was while driving at night that the lights on the driver window/door lock/mirror controls would dim on and off. When the lights would dim out completely on those switches I would simply push forward on the entire assembly a little bit and the lights would come back on. Is that a loose connection? Should the switch assembly/panel move at all?

The lights on the passenger window/door lock switch never had any issues.

It could be a loose connection. You might try taking the door panel off and cleaning out the connections.

Does the door panel have to come off to get the window switches out?

Yes, because they are held in from behind by a clip. You have no way of taking that clip off from the front without causing damage. Most likely your switch has rocked itself loose from the connector.
