If you have coil springs, you need a bushing, spacer or longer springs. Torsion bars run from the mid-section of the truck to the axle. You can see the bars by looking behind the front tires. I believe Dakota's have torision bars but not 1500s+.
Thanks. I'm pretty sure I have the coils. I'm into muscle cars so I'm familiar with the torsion bars too. What I'm confused by is, there seems to be both upgrades available for my truck depending on which it has. Why not one way or the other, why build it both ways? I can understand a change in design on a new model or something like that. I'm new to 4x4s and have much to learn. I'm not afraid to ask when I don't know, though I ask a lot of stupid questions sometimes. Just trying to get my brain wrapped around some of this stuff.
