Default Ram 20" chrome clad wheels

Hello all---New to this forum & also to Hemi Sport short bed. Just a question on those factory 20" wheels. Can you remove those chrome skins and polish the natural aluminum wheel or is too much of a " rough cast" to polish effectively? I am a perpetual gearhead who has to make changes----Hotchkis Sport suspension installed ( Really Cool) & 24" Aero duel exhaust into side pipes. Thanks

Rougher just means more time! Honestly I have no idea. I would love to see pictures of the wheel underneath the plastic "chrome" covers!

I was wondering the same thing, except I want to remove the chrome and black powdercoat them. Do you know if that can be done?

a couple of the members broke or chipped off the plastic chrome clad part of the wheel & ended up painting the metal, i would think that you could get rid of the plastic & get the wheels sand blasted & powder coated.
powder coating can be done in almost any color & even in a metalflake. my Harley gas tanks are done that way [IMG] [IMG]

Removing the cladding is a tough chore and you will find a rough casting underneath. I have never seen anyone take this on but it is definitely doable to polish them up to a nice shine. Smoothing them and doing a powdercoat finish would look nice as well.

Welcome to the Z.

We have a lot of forums for all kinds of topics, so you shouldn't have any problems finding a place to post questions.

We LOVE pics of Rams.

Here's how to post them: http://www.ramforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?f=73

I'd like to see what they look like with the plastic removed and the wheel powder coated.
