Default 2001 Stereo Installation help

So I've got this 01 Ram 1500 Quad Cab with a stock stereo that finally died. 4 speakers and 2 tweeters. My wife gave me a Sony HD radio for X-mas. There's this blue and black wire that clips to the back (outside exterior - don't know how else to describe it) of the stock radio. The other wires in the harness match the harness that came with the stereo. So what's the blue and black wire that clip to the back of the stock stereo for?

Also, without hooking up this blue and black wire, the stereo works but I have no sound. I've made sure the connections are secure where I connected the wires and the "ATT" feature on the stereo is off. The balance is centered, etc. Any thoughts, especially on the blue and black wire?
Tks,
Mike

The black and blue wire should be the ground wire. In the radio harness there should be a black wire for the ground hook the black and blue wire to the black wire. and make sure you hooked the blue wire up for the amp turn on. hope this helpes.

Ya, the black wire is most likely a ground, and for mine i didnt use the blue wire, as far as i read the blue wire is a remote wire for an amp or a wire if you have a power antenna.

If you had the Infinity system, the front 6x9s have amps on them thus needing the blue wire hooked up.

Speakers look like this, the amp is under the black cover

Thanks for the info. I'll try it when I get home today after work. I'll let you know.
