Default Mufflex Questions

I've used the search feature on Mufflex and there is a lot of info on this site, but I have yet to find the answer to my question.

Are people leaving the resonators on when installing the Mufflex kits?

I am considering the 14" kit. I know some people believe the 14" is too loud (especially in cab) but can't imagine this being the case if the resonators are still on.

Also any performance gains with the kit vs. stock?

I just put the 18" Mufflex kit on, the OEM resonators are still on. I have the 5.7 with factory duals. Honestly, it sounds good and I don't believe that I would want any louder.

Thank you. I just got the front windows tinted, 35%. Looks good, will post up some new pics when I get the chance. I like the tone of 18", definitely more pronounced than the OEM. Will have to see how it develops over time.

I installed a Mufflex 14 last weekend and I hate it with a passion. Way to quiet....think I'm going to put on a flowmaster 40 very soon. Had a Flowmaster on my old Ford and loved it.

Hard to believe the 14" is way to quiet? I know, each their own and all. I believe the 18" has good tone and volume. It is as loud as I would like for long term. I like the noise of straight pipes, no muffler...but would get old real fast, in my opinion.

I just ordered the Mufflex 18" for my 2011 RAM R/T and will be installing them in the next week or so and will let you know. I am also installing the ARH long tube headers (when the Diablo tune is ready for the 11s).......so I am hoping the combination of the headers and 18" Mufflex will work out.

I am keeping my resonators to cover the MDS drone.

Wow, haven't heard many people say the 14" is too quiet, mind you, I have never heard one in person either.

If you end up getting a Flowmaster 40 and want to get rid of your Mufflex, shoot me a PM.

If you like the Flowmaster sound, go for it! If your looking for more noise in cab, I fear you may be disappointed however.

Not that my truck is the same but on my 05 the 14" and the stock resonator sounds sweet. Not to loud at all.
