Default Debate Begins....

There has been alittle debate going back and forth on these vehicles on a thread that shouldnt be talked about in (agree'in with Michael for once) so I will place it in here........

Doing alittle research on all 3 cars... BMW M3, Mustake 500, and the new Mustake laguna against the DODGE Challenger SRT 8 .... i will say i dont know ALOT about cars but anyone can look at numbers and have common sense about it.... so lets do some review...

BMW M3 Coupe http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2011/bmw/m3/base_sedan/341/specifications/index.html

414 HP.... 3704 lbs.... $58.400
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mustake 500 ..

http://buyersguide.caranddriver.com/ford/mustang/2011/ford-mustang-shelby-gt500-coupe/price

550 HP ...supercharged.... 3825 lbs..........$49495
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mustake Laguna...

http://www.caranddriver.com/news/car/10q3/2012_ford_mustang_boss_302_boss_302_laguna_seca-official_photos_and_info

440 HP...... super charged 3500 lbs. approx.... $40,000
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dodge Challenger SRT8

http://www.thetorquereport.com/2010/11/2011_dodge_challenger_srt8_392.html

470 HP.... not super charged ..........4160... $43,000

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
After reviewing all the facts towards the cars, the difference between them all is the power to weight ratio. Don't go by whats on paper, have common sense before dropping the ball about your vehicles. It is a drivers game, and when you figure in all the stats not just a straight line shot, then you will find that the Challenger is a far more refined automobile than the others...

the number has been corrected, the weight that we were going by was the gross weight overall...

I haven't had a chance to review everything, but I would like to know the cost difference, how much of it is "made in America" and the reliablity/rarity of these automobiles. There is so much to consider when looking at the true abilities of vehicles. We could always pit a rally car against a heavy weight American car, but is that a true "gentlemans race". Lets get some EQUALLY equipped cars to compare!

I HAVE driven them all, and I would take the new 5.0 Mustang. The challenger is a great everyday car, but you can feel the weight when you start to pust it. The Camaro is good, but the mustang is a blast. The light weight with the motor and the way it handles FOR ME is unbeatable. And I'm not talking about the GT500, I'm talking 34,000 5.0 GT

You may take the mustang bc it may drive well at first, but they arent as dependable and liable as a challenger.... the challengers are all around great car..compared to any sports car out there.. the speed, the comfortablity, the turning ratio, the total drive itself, and of course you can depend on the car!

I am sensing a whole lot of bias on your part which is fine as you drive the Dodge. I did notice a mistake in your post as the 2012 Boss IS NOT S/C'ed but a N/A motor. As far as the refined part again that is subjective and since you drive a Dodge well that's expected.

I rank the cars in question (minus the BMW) this way,

1) 2011 GT500
2) 2012 Boss Lse
3) 2011 Mustang 5.0
4) 2012 Dodge SRT-8
5) 2011 Camaro SS

As far as magazine write ups etc the Mustang GT handily wins the comparison tests ie braking, lateral g's etc etc. My question to a SRT-8 owner would be this. If the SRT-8 is far more refined etc why are the Challengers trailing so far behind the Camaro and Mustang GT's of the world in regards to sales numbers? I will say that it's a great time to pick up a modern muscle car in terms of $$$$$ to performance. The last time this situation presented itself we were a whole lot younger or not even born for some ie 1964-70. Oh nice on the Mustake thing as that shows/tells me a little bit about your personality and I will take the high road on this topic.

This is a fallacy. Hands down the new 5.0 is the best bang for the buck! The challenger is a slow tank in comparison.

The Challenger loses in style, price and performance. All three things that buyers are looking for. If it was the best choice, it would be the most sold. And remember, everyone is going to have their own opinion. For me, the mustang....for someone else, something else!
