Default ALLGIG install / Ipod USB

I want to install the allgig and use the ipod port in the glove box on my 2011 Ram for a connector to the allgig/laptop computer. I will likely never use an ipod and it can probably just be plugged into the USB port on the front of my 430N (RHB) radio anyway. Ipod does not let you copy tunes to the HD anyways.

Is there any wiring diagrams that show where this glove box USB port is plugged into the radio? Can I just unplug it from the radio and plug it into the allgig?

This method would allow updates and reconfiguring the allgig without removing the radio because the allgig will be mounted behind it.

Has anyone seen where the usb cable coming out of the glove box ends, and maybe what it looks like? Is it a regular usb end?

why not just plug a usb cable into the allgig, and then mount it in the glovebox near the ipod plug so you can access it easier? (good idea that you have here btw)

shouldn't cost very much

the connector ought to be in your upper glove box, if you have 2 of them
if not, members that have 2 glove boxes have pushed the sides of the lower box & gently pulled it out towards you, then look at the bottom of the upper box, there should be 1 screw, take that out & remove the upper box, the radio will be on the left & the wire comes out from the rear of it.
Some people have rerouted that cable to the little pocket that is located between the glove boxes & the climate controls, on mine that pocket is where the 115 AC plug is located. Others have routed it some other location, with use of a adapter extension that is available
Here is a good explanation & images, you can read the 2nd persons post if you don't need to access the radio face

That is a thought. Just wanted to make it look professional using the existing plugin that I have in there if possible. The existing plug is a standard USB in the glove box.

here is a pic of where the allgig ended up, looking from driver's seat toward passenger side with console removed. You can see all of the additional audio/video plugs in the upper left coming out under the radio. The USB cable connected to the Allgig can de seen in the bottom corner of the allgig box. It comes out in the upper glove box. The factory backup camera has to be rewired to an accessory power in order to work while in forward motion, as it appears to get power from the backup lights. That could be a bit of a job to rewire, unless i come up with a close location to the tailgate to splice into.
