Default 4WD Dash Lights Flashing when On

Just got a 2011 Ram 1500 4.7L. When I switch the dial from 2WD to either 4WD or 4WD Low, the 4WD light on the dash will flash to show me it is engaged (both work fine). The flashing light is rather annoying, especially at night.

Two questions:
Should this be solid amber instead of flashing?
Am I doing someting wrong to cause it to flash?

Thx

I believe it should be a steady light . It may need to be taken in for some warranty work . Make sure you stop by the newbie section and introduce yourself .

Yea it flashes at the beginning to engage but then it goes solid. If it does not go solid you should bring it in to get looked at. That means it is probably not engaging properly

I have 05 and its Solid on the dash.Since you got a New dodge maybe its supposed to blink?Just a reminder like Parking brake flash to turn off? Not sure.
Maybe owners manual will clear it up if you should make an appointment.

I do know the little light will flash on the switch if shift requirements have not been met.
Maybe something different on newer models?

Nothing different about newer models. Something is preventing a shift to 4WD.

Mine will keep flashing until it locks into gear...if you try to switch to 4WD low and are not crawling it will keep flashing until you get to the right speed or in neutral.
Also if your completely stopped it will keep flashing until you roll forward enough to get the gears to mesh.
