I have a 99 1500 4wd ext cab 5.2l the heater suddenly stopped, the engine temp is at normal operating range so i dont think its a coolant issue it seems to be a control issue. The dial control for the mode setting operates, it just has no effect and the fan speed knob operates with the same lack of doing anything. Anyone seen this or have any tips
Check and see if there is power at fuses 2 and 5 in the fuse panel with the key in the on position. if not, you may have an ignition switch/wiring problem in the column. Both the blower motor and blend door are fed from this circuit.
Check the relay for the blower motor. It's in the the PDC under the hood. The part is really cheap and it's worth changing it before chasing a lot of stuff. If yours is like my '98 there is a relay for one of the other functions (sorry, I don't remember which one) which is the same part number as the blower relay. Swap it into the blower socket and check the blower.
