It is a static sounding noise that sounds like "sssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh", no sarcasm, I am being very serious. If you turn on your truck, turn the radio on but completely down on volume, place your ear to the door speaker, you will hear it. This noise was applified by our amps, only we didn't know it existed prior to the installation of our upgraded equipment.

I would talk with Dodgeman70592 or Chithead as they are the audio gurus. Maddog has also placed a sticky thread for audio questions that are in need of answers. My (very inexperienced) opinion is to upgrade your door speakers for clarity. I love my Rockford Fosgates. For bass, that would be best changed at the head unit equalizer or the gurus might have other ideas. I know you weren't looking to go as extensive as I am, so they might have other ideas.

Probably not gonna make anyone here feel any better, but the wifes 2011 Mustang with it's 'Shaker 500' OEM audio 'upgrade' sounds like MUD!!!!
It's got no more clarity than a 1984 Buick 6 X 9 with fried tweeters,,, mud, mud, MUD!!!
I'll take my sub-less Reg Cab Alpine system over it ANYDAY!

Naturally, my Ram couldn't compete with the 100% aftermarket bi-amp'ed component system I had in the Silvy, but,,, apples and oranges,,,

From what little experience I have, the OEM headunits just aren't worth keeping if ya plan on doing much more than OEM,,, You can add parts, but it's all like the proverbial chain and it's weakest link,,,

Start clean, stay clean, and add scream as required! =)

I am 100% satisfied with both my Alpine in the Ram and the system in the Shelby. I should say that I would rather listen to the MagnaFlow exhaust on the Ram and the MagnaFlow and S/C whine in the Shelby though.
