Default abs problems?

So yesterday I'm driving along with about 2" of snow on the ground and traffics buildig up in front of me so I hit the brakes and they lock up. Luckily I always give myself plenty of room in bad weather conditions and were able to pump the brakes and come to a stop with some room to spare. This is the first snow storm I've really driven in with my truck, so I didnt expect this. I looked up the hood when I got home and all the fuses seemed to be good, fuse under the dash seems to be good. Swapped fuses with other items to check and see if they functioned and they did. ABS light is not on at all on the dash so I'm assuming theres no problems with the wheel sensors. I read on here about having ABS codes pulled. Can AUTOZONE do this with their scanner? Any commonly known issues with these trucks?

If the front wheels lock up and the rear doesn't, you've got a RWAL system.

yesterday when this occourred everything seemed to lock up. i didnt feel any kind of abs actuator or feel anything in the pedal. i even played with it on the way home after that. if i was on an empty street, id get up to 30-35mph and slam on the brakes. nothing seemed to happen at all except the truck would lock up. is there anything under the hood to tell me which i have?

after i posted that yesterday, i went and looked at the truck and didnt see any wheel sensors on the front hubs or rotors. so i'm assuming that means i have only rwal. but what i still don't get is why i didnt seem to feel any kind of abs action. my abs light is not on, so i'm assuming that means everything is functional. is it possible to have a bad sensor on the rear without throwing the light on?

I'm curious if your trucks are built with ABS. If I had VIN numbers and mileage, I could pull up build sheets and see.

i'll supply you with the info as soon as my truck comes back from the bodyshop. the same day i posted this as an issue, my truck got rear ended. i told the bodyshop about the problem and they took my truck to the dealer as a courtesy and the dealer said its not an abs problem, but a hydraulic issue and they would have to diagnose it further (wheel cylinder, etc.). I plan on when I get the truck back just replacing both wheel cylinders and master cylinder. I didn't see any front wheel sensors on it, so I don't see any sense in replacing the front calipers. Does this seem like a decent route to take?

ok, ramtech, heres what you need. i'm a 2001 dodge ram 1500, 131000 miles, vin 3B7HF12Y81G198401 if theres anything else you need let me know. i really could use some help here. the only thing i know is that when the dealer had my truck they said my rear wheels would lock up pretty hard. i wont have the truck back for at least a week yet so if you need any more info it'll be a delay.
