i think the new f150 eco boost are a freakin piece. at first i thought they were alright ya they have some power and a nice power curve but idk about the reliability. i work at ford as a tech and we have 3 eco boost trucks in the shop with broke motors. (all 3 are still on the lot waiting to be looked at, or i would say what is exactly wrong with them)
all 3 with very low miles one has 824 the other 2 are even lower with 268 and 362. all have a horrible knocking sound. doesnt look like they were tested as good as ford said they did. with their 200k mile tested tough. haha but who knows maybe we just got a bad batch or something but for now its not looking to good for it.

ford has been plagued with engine troubles trickling down from the powercroke. the twin turbos on those were junk. doesn't surprise me that the eco boost turbo's will be junk. in my opinion the people that should buy this are those that want a truck that gets better than average mpg, not someone looking for a truck to do what a truck does. i would opt for the 6.2 if i was to by one. i don't buy a truck for mpg, i buy a truck to haul/tow and suck down gas at $4 a gallon.

Keep us posted on what these "fine engines" look like when their pulled apart . I know their not gonna last but not even 1000 miles on any of them .

I rode in my friends new Eco boost f150 and was impressed with the power. Never been a ford guy though. I'll stick with the 5.7 and my tt Srt 10. Does anyone know if they are gonna put the 6.4 in the new ram quad?

OK so time for an update. sry it took a long time, i kinda forgot about it for a while and i just got moved, but anyways, ok so 2 of them ate the rod bearings. pulled the pan off one and reached up and grabbed the rods and holy crap they all had like a freakin inch of movement in them back and forth haha. the other had the same problem tho they werent as bad the 1st truck. the 3 truck went to our lincoln shop to get worked on so i dont dont what happened with it.

Up until recently anyways the Ford Powerstroke was an International Vt365 with Ford accessories thrown on, and yes it was crap !! We were always changing out the turbos and EGR's under warranty, with very low mileage. The previous versions (T444E and mech. 6.9/7.3L) were much better.

I was real close to getting an Ecoboost F150 but got nervous about all the moving parts associated with a turbo, factory or not.

once again ford has to force induct to make power
HAHA love this post! Although their new engines are making good power NA but I totally agree with this statement! For the past 10 years we've gone to the drag strip with a very lightly modified NA 2001 z28 LS1 camaro that runs 13.0 every time in street trim, street tires, etc... and rarely if ever got beat by the mustangs, even the supercharged ones with slicks and sometimes juice. I remember pulling out of the track onto the highway one night and a brand new supercharged mustang pulled out with us and both cars got on the gas and were dead even....pretty pathetic IMO that it took ford's modern forced induction to make equal power to GM's 15 year old NA powerplant, and we got nearly 30 mpg cruising home on the highway.

Syclones and Typhoons would outrun corvettes and porsches, how embarrassing, buy a 75k sports car and get beat by an s10!
That's exactly why GM made GMC stop making the Sy/Ty's. Once chevy found the little black truck's were running faster than the vette they stopped production because they couldn't have a cheap truck running faster than their flagship sports car!
