Default Kegger

Was thinking about doing the kegger mod to my 1996 non egr 318, but i had read somewhere that the newer models already have the "runners" taking off from the factory. Which from what i understand is all the kegger mod is, removing the runners. So if I'm correct that the newer models already have this done, can I just take one from a newer 318 with the runners already removed from the factory and install it with the same affects as the kegger mod?

The Kegger, or intake manifold, it looks round like a keg, can be ported and modified inside. You will need to take the manifold off if you are fixing a plenum gasket leak. Any of these engines that I have looked at have some plenum leak. Just take the throttle body off, and look in with a flashlight, if you see streaks of oil in the pan, the gasket is leaking, and you are getting oil into the intake, and burning it in the engine.
While you are looking in there, you can see if there is a divider, seperating the manifold in two, or a one piece plenum. The original design on older trucks has the divider, and newer ones don't have the divider, and more top end power. The runners where never removed, but the divider can be removed from an older model, or just switch to a newer manifold without the divider. Just use a vice grip and chip out pieces, it is very brittle and will break out easily.
