Default Console Shifter Problem?

I have the console shifter with the two chrome buttons. Last night after a detail I was messing around in the driveway and I could not get the two chrome buttons to push in to change gears. I had the brake on and off and I tried in P,R,N, and D. Am I a putz and doing something wrong or is the Chubby Bruiser broke?

I seem to remember something in the manual about a small "notch" covered by a plastic cover that is used in times of something going wrong. Can't remember exactly though.

Edit: Heh, As soon as I hit post I look over and the manual is sitting next to me. I'm not sure how much difference there is between the 2010 you have and the 2011 manual but....on pages 58 & 59 there is instructions on how to manually override the Brake/Transmission Interlock.

Honestly, I am not entirely sure how this situation could occurr or what it actually means, but...hopefully it helps ya!

If I am reading the manual correctly that is for when the shifter will not come out of park? That is not my issue. My issue is that I can not use the Chrome buttons to manually shift. They will not budge. Am I missing something? Thanks for your help!!

Ahhhh, gotcha...hmmm well my shifter is the one that can shift "manually" using a left and right "tipping" motion. So I don't have the buttons you do. I hope someone else can help you out!

I think I found the issue. I read the owners manual and if I am reading it correctly you can not use the chrome knobs to shift gears unless the transmission fluid is up to normal operating temps. When I was messing with it last not it had been in my garage cold during a detail.

I have the chrome buttons on my shifter but they do not push in or out. The way to shift manually you just move the whole shifter to the right or left. There should be a +/- on your speedometer showing which way to move the shifter to shift up or down. Also a large number will appear on the bottom of the speedometer showing what gear you are in.

Those chrome buttons are just trim. They do not move. You move the entire shifter. Those chrome buttons are not buttons at all.
