I'm confused. the screw is only going through 1/4" (maybe only 1/8") of metal and then the black plastic portion of your bumper.

Are you sure you are orienting it properly?

The back side of the grille will have some sections that have the hole in it for the screw, those should fall directly into the grooves of the plastic bumper piece.

This will locate the grille properly in the up/dpwn direction, you will need to center it right/left manually.

I just used some quik grips to hold it centered while I pre-drilled the holes for the screws.

reading your post again it sounds like you are trying to do this with the black plastic lower section still attached to your vehicle.

If that is true, do yourself a favor and pop that out.

It will be much easier to mount the grille properly at your work bench and then pop it back in.

P.S. it is just held in place by plastic tabs that are wedged through slots in the bumper.

That must be it. I didn't take the plastic lower section out that attaches to the bumper. I can just pop it out (from behind?), then do the work. That would be much easier!

When i put mine in i didnt take it out of the truck. I just checked and made sure there was nothing to hit behind the factory black grille (there wasnt) and drilled my holes. Took me 5 min to put it on. There really is no good reason to take the time to pop that piece out. Be careful and you will be fine.

On another note, can you start a thread that has pictures of your caliper covers?

I'm thinking of buying some of those next.

I have a mod thread. I bought the MPG covers and had them put on when I was in for the exhaust work. The dealership would't do it, they had a bad experience recently. If you want I can take some more pics and start a new thread, oherwise I'm not sure what I would put in the thread lol.

Ok, get this. I found out what the problem was... I have short arms! That's what I get for trying to finish before the wife got home from the store to go out on date night.

Can you name the seller? Also is it a exact match of the upper grills?
