Default Real World Highway Mileage

For Christmas I took the wife and dogs from Southern NJ to Ohio to visit her family. After Christmas I left them there and came home by myself and worked the week between Christmas and New Year's. Drove back on 12/31 and stayed a few days and brought them all home. In a little over a week I put 2200+ miles on the Ram. I reset my mileage before the first leg of the 2200 mile journey and never reset it. The attached picture is from the EVIC when I returned home after New Year's. Although all 2200 miles are highway, I think 19.3MPG is fantastic.

From Watertown NY to Rochester NY the other day, I got 21.5 on the EVIC. It was the highest I have ever seen in the Ram. Was nice to see though! I have the 4.7l, so that might be the reason yours is lower. I cruise at 65mph at ~1500rpm.

It would be interesting to know your Axle and what average speeds you traveled at high and low and did you set the cruise control. The best I have seen on the EVIC is just over 19 and it drops dramatically as soon as I hit the city. I have a feeling that the 2010-11 get better milage than the 09 .

What I have noticed that on all highway driving the milage is fantastic however the stop and go is very bad and I'm not at all surprised.

I believe the axle ratio in my truck is 3:55. And yes I did use cruise control, set at 75mph. Before I left for the trip, the truck was almost due for an oil change, so I changed it. I took out Royal Purple and put in Amsoil. The truck also has a K&N drop in.

I have the 4.7L V8, and when I first got my truck a few months ago I was worried because people on here were saying how horrible the mpg was. I'm happy to report that with no modifications currently done, my around town driving (surface streets, stop-n-go traffic, and some light freeway) has been around 18-19 on the evic. We took a trip from Houston to Austin a few weeks ago and I filled up and reset the evic. I was VERY happy to see that I got 22.6 on the evic, going 65-70mph the whole way.
