Default Which wiring harness is this and where can I find it?

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram and either my ignition switch or the wiring harness that connects to it has gone bad, so I want to replace both as the switch is only $25 and I can't imagine the wiring harness costing much more $.

My problem is that I don't know what the name of the ~1-foot-long wiring harness is that connects the ignition switch to the larger wiring harness near the firewall.

Please help me with the name of the part and where to find it if you can because my heat doesn't work and I am freezin' out here in Chicago! Thanks!

Default ignition switch problem?

I was wondering what the reason was for replacing the ignition switch? I believe I have to do the same thing and the problem I am trying to resolve has to do with the vent fan blowing even after i turn off the truck. I have walked out to a dead battery twice now....

Sorry for the super-slow response here. The reason for replacing the ignition switch was because the blower motor would turn on and off depending upon the position of the tilt of the steering wheel. Now that we replaced the switch it did, in fact, remedy the problem, because the blower motor (among many many other things in the truck) is controlled through the ignition switch. Your issue may involve the ignition switch, but it is hard to say for sure. The part is $25 and is easy to replace once you have removed the steering column shroud. May be worth it to give it a try for $25....

BTW, if anyone needs to replace the wiring harness that I mentioned in the original post, it is not made by Dodge any more. Looks like you'll have to get that at a junkyard now

Are you guys aware this problem is addressed by Recall C-11?

Subject:

The blower motor wiring on about 285,000 of the above vehicles contains an
undersized terminal. Localized heating from operating the blower motor on high
speed may cause the terminal to relax and lose electrical contact. This could cause
the blower motor to become inoperative. An inoperative blower motor will not
defrost the windshield, which could obstruct the driver’s vision and result in an

accident.

Repair:
A blower motor wiring overlay harness must be installed.

I was unaware of this recall. How do I go about getting this fixed under the recall at this point? Do I just bring it in and they'll be obligated to fix it at no cost to me?

If the vehicle is covered under the recall then the repair will be made at no cost to you.
