Default control switch not working correctly

i was wondering if anyone could help me out. my heat gets hot but the controls dont work right. i have for different speeds on the blower control, the first two work fine but the third dont blow at all and the forth blows cold air. im not sure what it might be and i was hoping somebody could tell me something before i start taking things apart

Sounds suspiciously like a 2 part problem. The blower not working on the 3rd speed is most likely a bad blower motor resistor - a simple fix. If the air is going cold on high speed you may have a blend door problem.

thanks for the help. i was thinking about the resister and was going to change it. how might i go about checking the door problem?

Unfortunately the blend door problem means a deep dig into the dash.

Try cycling your HVAC function switch (heat floor to bi-level to defrost) back and forth. You should hear the door cycling. If it's stuck you won't hear it move.
