Thumbs up 07 Hemi Upgrade results and parts review

Ok so I blew some money on my 07 2wd QC 5.7 Hemi. Truck has about 82K miles on it and started stock. My goal was to fix the grip problem and to pick up as much power reliably for the cheapest price and not turn it into a noisy annoying pickup that others hated. Upgrades were OBX Headers (no cats that will come later), Aeroturbine 3030XL, Ebay Cold air intake fixed with an autoparts store filter, Diablosport Predator, catch can and a Detroit Truetrac Differential. I will start by saying I've fixed up many cars over the years and was a partner in running a part time performance shop.

Parts Review
I've bought many parts off of ebay over the years and these parts are some of the better but the cheaper parts still hold true as you get what you pay for but it's not the quality it's the few details that get missed.

Headers were great but they didn't come with bolt to bolt them to the head, the band clamps aren't very good but in their defense none are. O2 holes to far from the o2 sensors requiring extensions, new o2 or swapping with the secondary. The y pipe started nice but got too small in one spot, this was resolved by cutting that section out and tig welding a straight piece there.

Aeroturbine excellent quality and was the sound I was looking for.

Ebay cold air intake pricing was right filter was tiny and since that's the crappy stop anyway was replaced with a filter from the parts store.

Diablosport predator easy to use more options would be nice will need to contact diablosport for a custom tune if my problem is not the injectors aren't maxed out.

Moroso Catch can has incredible quality. A custom PCV system was installed using grommet and pcv from GM Vortec 4.3 and blocking off the factory PCV.

Detroit Trutrac Differential was simply amazing other than the custom tool for the dodge rear end was simple to replace. Stock the truck would blow that 1 wheel off all day long. Stock with the new diff would dead hook and go no matter how hard I tried.

DYNO
First problem is my wheels for some reason are out of balance and caused waves on the dyno so it wasn't the most accurate. This dyno is known to be about 5-10HP lower than nearby ones by how he has it setup but the important things are the gains.

Stock put down 243HP/261Torque after the upgrades and basic quick tune 293HP/321Torque peak numbers but the power was increased overall the entire RPM range.

Tunin issues - I found that either I'm maxing out the factory injectors or the tuner needs to go past it's 18% as my AFR's wouldn't hardly go under high 13's. After figuring this out and further tuning I hope to get another 5-10 out of it.

Total Spent
Detroit Truetrac Limited Slip differential $550
Bearing Kit $100
Headers $540
Aeroturbine 3030XL Muffler $170

Oh by the way...the tuner fuel add is cumulative. So you can add more if you save the tune, load it, then un plug. Then plug back in and modify the tune again with more fuel at WOT.

that's what i'm hoping. I just don't know if that much already should be maxing out the injectors. I didn't see any difference in the AFR the last 3% I increased it. I was shooting for low 13's to high 12's from everything I could find on the internet but didn't come close and that doesn't make me happy. The tuner did say that the tailpipe would show a little leaner than what it really was but it still wasn't near the range I wanted

Great mod report with details and pics. Maybe you can do a detailed report in the Gen 3 area or Hemi area and just call it something like "Gen 3 Catch Can How-to" or whatever you want, with some pics on the PCV/Catch-can mod you did for Gen 3 folks. I think many would love to be able to put a catch-can on their Hemi.

Yeah give it a try. I didn't need much on either of mine to get to that sweet spot of 12.5 to 12.7 A/F ratio

Catch cans are good to have. Unfortunately I can install one on my 07 Ram (totally enclosed PCV - WTH were they thinking???) but I do have one on my SRT and they work great.
