cyberpine will become famous soon enough
Default About to hit 3000 miles on 2010 Ram Quad Hemi - noob questions

I searched some .. I read some.

- I see I have a lock id card for my wheel locks. Is there a key already in the truck somewhere? where?

- I've never used synthetic, not sure I want to start. Yeah it's got a hemi, but so what? .. what oil should I use. I have a $50 credit from the dealer will that be enough? Anybody else reluctant to take their truck to the dealer? for me, this dealer is 50 miles away, but I have a credit there.

- I'm currently only getting 11.5 mpg. yeah... I will talk to them about this. Worth going with K&N air filter?

Anything else I should consider?

Thanks.

!.The wheel lock should be in your glove box.
2.It's purely up to you on the synthetic oil but once you switch your not supposed to switch back.
3. Keep your foot off the pedal so much and you will get better. A k&n drop in filter will help.

the choice of oil is up to you, continue using dinosaur oil or synthetic

My wheel lock was attached to the jack, under the passenger front seat
by the way, be extra careful when using that jack, they don't make them like they should

K&N air filter is recommended by the Ram dealership & i have had good results with it, i put mine in at 30,000 miles, the old one was filthy

as for the mileage, forget that digital read out, fill the tank, write down the mileage, drive the Ram, fill up when you want, write down the mileage, then use an adding machine or paper & writing utensil & figure it out. The damn digital readout will drive you nuts, same with watching the miles until empty thing, you will fill up one time, it may read 325 miles to empty, the next fill up it may read 500 miles until empty, i have the 32 gallon tank & just the other day i filled up, it read 330 miles until empty, 200 miles later it still read 321, it was all highway driving

By the way, my MPG got better the more i drove it, i now have 37,000 miles on it & depending how i drive it & where, i have seen 21 MPG, but, mostly 16.2 - 18.6 MPG

If you do decide NOT to have the dealership do your services, keep very good records, Date, Mileage, Location, Cost, type of oil & filter. please don't buy a cheap filter, read the box for applications, if it costs $5.00, get a better good quality filter such as NAPA, WIX, MOPAR, etc

^^^^^ That is some good advice, ^^^^^

If I can just add that synthetic is less likely to break down under stress and well worth the few extra bucks. I do my own oil changes, just keep good records which GT has already stated.

You can get a Mopar oil filter at WalMart for $5.00, so that's not too bad.

Use the credit on the oil change now, at the 6000 mi mark change over to synthetic oil and a high quality filter. Then you should be right on the service schedule with an oil change every 6000 mi. A K&N Filter goes into every one of my vehicles as soon as I drive them off the lot.
