Has anyone driven both the 07 and older 4.7's and then a 08 or newer 4.7? I didnt know about the difference in power when i bought my 07 the other day or I may have tried to find an 08 or newer. I was definately shopping for used though. I know the newer one have 75 more horses, that quite a power jump. Thanks.

Yes, I drove a 2004 ram with a 4.7, had 33,000 miles on it when I was looking for mine. It was a borderline dog. I dont honestly know how that 4.7 in a ram could tow much, if anything...but they do apparently.

The new one has almost as much power as the last gen Hemi. I would imagine mine does have as much power, with the tune on it.

Like AOO I've also driven both. My dad has a 2005 4.7L and it is pretty slow IMO. Now he doesn't care about racing so it's fine for him. It will tow decently, it does have about 300lb ft IIRC, it just doesn't have the a lot of hp. Like AOO said, the new 4.7L is almost on par with the last hemi, so it moves pretty good. With tune and a few bolt ons it's right there with the old hemi.

My 4.7L with 93 SC tune and a drop in filter is running faster than my friend's old hemi ram. Mine is 3.55, his was 3.92, both quad cabs.
