update: jan 18th

dropped my 1500 off at the dealer again this morning, with the descriptions of:

1- heavy sluggish feeling in the steering during turns

2- engine feels like it's holding back, almost like driving with parking brake on.

Got a call about 6 hours later saying that they dont feel anything and my truck is fine.

I then returned to the dealer, drove around with one of the techs, he said he didnt feel anything.

they then bassically sent me home- said it was documented so that if something happens i have no problem.

sort of a poor resolution

not happy.

Here are some things to try.
#1 drive it and watch the tach. Make sure that the transmission is shifting into all gears as it should. Pay real close attention so you don't miss a shift.
#2 put it up on jack stands all the way around. Be very carefull!!!!!!!!!Then put the vehicle in drive an just let the thing "coast" . Look and see how many tires are turning. If the fronts are moving, then its stuck in 4/4.
#3 If the tires on the front don't move after the above, shut it down and then manually turn the front tires. If it feel like you have a lot of drag check the front end gear oil. If its way low, that can also cause this.
#4 Take it to a different dealer and tell them that the mileage is way down and that it feels heavier than usual.
#5 Trade it in on a new one!
Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the tips, I have an appointment with the dealership I bought it from, unfortunately it's an hour+ drive, So im not too thrilled.

I can understand why the techs cant seem to find anything. Every car drives different, so it'd be difficult to just hop in a car you've never driven before and see my issue.

You know as the driver, since you drive your vehicle every day when something changes. Something did, may be subtle or un-noticed to other drivers, but something took a drastic change.

I'll keep this thread updated after I get some response from dealer #2.

Thanks.

I think you got it right when you said driving someone else' vehicle its hard to find a noise that is out of place.

I'd suggest just relaxing and if it gets worse see if anyone else riding with you can nail down the location.

Crazy question for you, have you guys had a lot of snow in NJ lately? Like did you have a lot of slushy snow and then got cold and froze up? I find when you've had it in a lot of snow and then it freezes up underneath, the truck seems to feel slower and sluggish. Since you've had it in some dealership, I assume it sat inside and warmed up and melted it off. Just a thought???

If it was stuck in 4WD, you would know it when turning slowly, the front end sort of jumps and you gotta hit the gas more to get it going, same effect if you turn the wheel and reverse, it won't really turn without shots of gas.

I don't really trust the dealership that they checked it and wasn't stuck in 4WD, Like did they just check the light and underneath and say, nope not in 4WD. Had a friend who's Avalanche wouldn't go out of 4WD, but the light went out. When they finally dropped the transfer case, a little rock feel out of it, loosend the drivetrain and then it went out
