Default Leveling kit installation problems. Help!

I'm installing a 2.5" front leveling kit on my '07...at least I tried to. For some reason I cannot get the ball joint to separate from the upper control arm AND also I cannot get the steering linkage to separate either. The instructions say to hit the side of the knuckle with a hammer and everything should come apart. Not for me apparently. After a few hours of...hammer time...penetrating lube...hammer time...penetrating lube...beer time...hammer time...beer time...beer time...I gave up. Is there a trick I'm missing? Can I just get a spring comperssor and remove it that way? I hate it when a 2 hour job turns into a 2 day job. Please help!

You need a ball joint fork..

Probably run you about $20 at the local parts store!!
This could also help you with the steering linkage, you may need a smaller one(narrower fork)..
Good luck and hope this helps!

pickle fork and hammer from your local auto parts store. after a lot less work than you've done already, you'll have them apart. those types of joint form a 'mechanical weld'. when you use the pickle fork, it is quite possible you'll tear the rubber boots on the control arm and tie rod ends - be prepared for it. finally, when you put it all back together, make sure your nuts/bolts are torqued right

I tried one from Harbor Freight...no go. Do I need a "real" one?

Try backing up the other side of the knuckle with another hammer. Thats how I do it anyway.
