Valve's recommendations are spot-on (or spot-off if I wanted to be funny) and perfect for a full blown, all afternoon cleaning session with your new truck.

I have simplified my routines due to time pressures:

Washing: I use a car washing soap (Mothers, Mequiars, Turtlewax, etc.). I use wash the upper areas first using a washing mit or clean towel. Since the lower sections are dirtier, I do those last. If the bucket water gets dirty enough, I change the soap/water. You don't want the dirty water transferring sand/dirt particles to your cleaning cloth.

Drying: A good towel will do (I've always heard Egyptian cotton towels are best). Start with the windows and handle the paint lightly. You don't want to rub the paint with a dry towel.

Waxing: I like to use "polymer wax" like Mother's or Mequiars. If you do a great job washing and get all the dirt off, you don't need to use a "cleaning wax". I sometimes use the cleaning wax on the lower parts that are difficult to clean well.

Clay bar: The miracle of the car cleaning routine. It only needs to be done once a year (or twice if you love the feeling). Since a clay bar removes the wax, you always have to wax afterwords. But there is great satisfaction in rubbing your hand down a freshly waxed car following a clay bar application. It is slicker and smoother than anything has the right to be.

After a good clay bar/waxing, I once put my full foam soda cup on the roof of my 300C while I got something from the back seat. I closed the door and the cup slid down the roof and fell on the ground. I was more impressed with the slickness than I was pissed at losing the soda.

Yea man,For me buying used 2005 even though it was spotless i wanted the protection and yea that's good for once or twice a year Depending what you do with your Ram.
But maintenance is a breeze once you got some sort of protection.

This by far is my most used=
Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-all...plus-d103.html
Get some empty spray bottles like 1-3 dollars with ratio scale on it.
I'm pretty sure you cannot buy Meguiars detailing line in any store,Has to be ordered online.I always order online with free shipping.

I am a big fan of the Chemical Guys line of products. I use their pre wax cleaner after I wash the truck. The name of the cleaner is Virtua Bond 404 and it works great. Once that is done I use their sealant called M-Seal. This lasts for up to 6 months on the truck and gives it constant protection. I love this product it really really brings out the color of the paint. You can apply a wax on top of the sealant to really give it a wicked look and awesome protection. You really dont need more then the M-Seal though

The best thing I have used for the black plastic pieces is called Black Wow. It is hands down the best thing for it. It almost makes the black plastic pieces look like they have been painted. It lasts for a long time which is great. I used to apply it every second wash since it lasted through one

Hey Valve,

They clay bar will strip wax, but will you get better results if you use dish soap before you start this process? Since it's a surfactant and will strip wax also will it clean the deposits off better? Thanks for the help. Looking forward to warmer weather to pamper my baby
