Default Wet dog smell!

I'm hoping some of you 3rd geners can help me out. I recently bought a '06 2500 Laramie with a Cummins. I have noticed lately that when I start the truck and turn on the ventilation fan it blows a rank wet dog smell for a while. When it starts producing heat the smell goes away. This '06 is a repalcement for an '04 2500 Laramie that had a Hemi. My '04 did the same thing. Anybody else have this problem or any ideas on how to stop it? Thanks.

Could be a cabin or ventilation system filter. I worked at a dealer some years ago and there was a car that came in with the same kind of issue. There was a filter that the owner had neglected to change out. It got wet and moldy and caused that sort of stench. I am not sure if your truck would have one or not, but it might be a good place to start. Good luck!

I investigated the possibility of a bad filter when i had my '04 and was told that there is no cabin filter. I intend to look into the same thing for my '06.
