I can see and understand your frustration but those "kids" young or old have to learn. Some do go through courses such as UTI and some of the others but still don't have a clue how the real world is. Yes it sucks they are learning on your vehicle, but when a new model comes out remember, even the "old timers" are learning again.

I have calmed down on it a bit now ,it was that I was there waiting instead of being at home relaxing while the work was being done

Most big shops start trainees in the Oil and Lube area if they are wanting to be a Tech unless they have a whole lot of training and can prove they know what they're doing.

Some of those shops have tire service too and they also start trainees in those as well.

However, there should be a qualified tech overseeing what is being done.

when i actually worked for a living, so many years ago, i was in the heavy equipment field, i couldn't get my mind around how the hell the operators could do what i was seeing them do, 10 years later i was still learning, 5 years later i was instructing, 15 years + later i walked out the door & i'm sure that someone took my place.
I still stop by the job now + again & i still get asked questions. If they asked me to stop by & help now + again, i would likely do it. I taught enough for operators to compete in heavy equipment roadeos

BUT, i wasn't even close to what this guy could do

I would not be so rough on those kids they are the ones that are actually going to school and learning how these new fangled trucks actually work. The oldschool guys bug me. What I really hate is when they have to take out those black bugs to remove a plastic part, it seems they never put them all back or they put different not matching ones. Pet Peeve. I like the young guys they understand the electronics a lot better than the old guys who don't want to go learn.
