Default 96 thermostat removal?

ok so its time for me to do the thermostat in my 96... again. last time i did this it took me forever and was a royal pain. what is the best way to do this. should i take off the alternator bracket?

Removing the thermostat housing isn't the bad part of the job , cleaning the old gasket off is . Either way you do it it's gonna be time consuming . Don't fight it and take your time . I just put a thermostat in mine when I was doing the water pump . Killed 2 birds with one stone .

One important thing to remember is which side (top or bottom) of the thermostat the gasket is on.

You REALLY don't want to know how I learned that lesson.

the gasget is bigger than the thermostat. doesn't matter on these. maybe it does on yours tho since its newer.

the thermostat didn't fix the issue, it was the water pump like i had thought. listened to dad on this one... not again lol. so water pump is done a screw that stupid little hose next to the intake
