Default After Market Security Systems

After speaking with the Dodge dealer, they said that the keyless entry can't be added by the dealer. So I guess I am doing the after market security/keyless entry/remote start system. Couple of questions:

1. What is the best brand without going crazy (pricewise):
2. Is the remote start worth an additional $100. Most systems are additional money for the remote start vs. keyless entry only.

Thanks in advance.

I have no answer on which system to get. But I do suggest having it professionally installed from someone that will give you a warranty on their work just in case the install messes with your truck's computer.

As for the remote start, I have it and love it. In the summer I have my A/C preset and in the winter I have the defrost preset. Downside is it kills mpg.

I am looking at the Viper security system with remote start from Best Buy. It is $399 with basic install, it sounds like I have buy additional interface unit for $100 dollars. Looks like that the direction I am going. Any issues with Best Buy??

Stupid Question.. So you start the vehicle with the remote start system, how do you turn it off?? I have a regular Dodge key, do I put it in the ignition at all??

Yes, you'll still need to put the key in the vehicle to operate it. Most systems are on a timer and can be manually shut off with the remote.

I work in a hospital, I can see the floor that my truck is park in on the parking deck next to the building out the window. I thought it will be cool that I could start my truck, then go downstairs, clock out and go to the parking garage and the truck would be cool or warm.
