Default add Gas tank Capacity

I have the 25 (I think) gallon tank in my new truck. I need more gas (not diesel) capacity. What could my options be? I would rather not do a transfer tank, but if that is the only option… Thanks in advance. Jay

Good question. There are aftermarket tank makers that claim to be able to add 7 - 10 gallons of capacity and be able to fit the tank in the stock locations. I don't know that anyone has one for the 2011 yet but it may be worth a Google or two.

A transfer tank is definitely an option and there may also be small auxiliary tanks that you could add a second filler neck, cap and transfer pump to.

You should have 26 Gallon standard, and there is a optional 32 Gallon tank. I dont see why you couldnt do a OEM swap from the 26 to 32. But it maybe easier said than done.

My truck has the "optional" 32 gallon tank. It came that way from the factory. (you can see what truck it is in my description). I'd bet it's not cheap to buy that 32 gallon tank but I'd assume all the "guts" just swap from one to the other. I'd guess there is room under the bed already there for the larger tank so nothing would have to be moved.

It should be do-able. I have read about guys doing it in the 2nd gens. Same situation from 26 to 32. The space is already there since the tanks are just a little bit longer and will bolt right up.

I've got the 32 gallon tank option too. To experiment I've had it where it showed 20 miles on the DTE indicator and it's never taken more than 28 gallons. When I filled it up it was literally to the top of the cap. I don't think it really holds 32 gallons it's more like 30 gallons maybe.

It does but Rams are designed to read a bit less than what you actually have to prevent running out of fuel plus a 1/2 gallon or so that wont be useable.

Check a used parts place. There's bound to be a wrecked ram with a 32 gal tank that you can swap in. The electronics (pump, etc) should be the same. Connections and mounting may be a bit different.

The pump unit may not be the same. I'm showing 2 different part numbers but they don't say which is for which tank. The only way to be sure would be to check with the VIN of a truck that has the 32 gallon tank.
