Default DIY Roll on bedliner

I am going to do a roll on bedliner in our new ram 1500, plus my old truck.

There are many brands to choose from, so my question is, are they all the same or close to the same. Or are some good, and some junk?

Please advise what brands to use, or avoid. Thanks

Whichever brand you choose, prep work, prep work, prep work. Make sure you put in the prep work to insure the longest lasting results.

Yes, i read it needs to be sanded well to stick correctly.

The Duplicolor kit says to use a green scrub pad to scratch the clear coat to make a good surface to adhere to. It also suggest using paint prep spray. I have the kit, but I am waiting on warm weather to roll it on. Bought it from Advance Auto Parts for $60/gal.

I just purchased the Dupli-Color Bed Armor and it is supposed to be really good. It is made with Kevlar which is usually affiliated with strength. I have seen it being put through some test on tv and seems like it will hold up. I bought it since I believe it will be good.

Thanks Scat, its the one the napa autoparts stocks to, so was considering that one. But I had no idea if it was good or not, so thanks for the input.

No to sound too overbearing (because I hate it when people come in after I've done my research and tell me to do something else!) but the last time I looked you needed at least (2) gallons to do a bed (up to about $120 now). That's about 1/2 of what I gave to spray my bed with Ultimate Xtreme (very similar to LineX). With something that's this sensitive to the quality of prep work (I had a LineX install peel in several places because the OEM paint wasn't removed sufficiently and there wasn't enough 'tooth' for the spray to stick to) and the fact that my time is fairly valuable these days, I would seriously think about getting it sprayed. Most LineX and Ultimate Xtreme vendors will give you a Lifetime Warranty as well.

I called linex and they said $599 black and $799 color match..not over the rail due to plastic caps. I was curious about 1 gal vs 2 gal. I was assured 1 gal was enough, but the 2nd gal is only a couple miles away if needed. So $120 is still far cheaper than $600..to me anyway.

I would reccomend against using a green scrub pad to do the prep work. Sure, it could be done with one, but you'll get tennis elbow and waste A LOT of time. Get some nice rough sandpaper, like 60-80 grit, and have at it. This will give you all the "bite" you need for the bedliner to stick to. Then using some lint free rags and rubbing alchohol to remove any grease and oils left in the bed, wipe it all down, then start your roll on experience.
