Well since you put it that way, I wanted the bench but didn't want to have my truck ship from another dealer in NY or CO so I got the truck on the lot with buckets.

Thanks for including an option for people who prefer the one they don't have

I ordered my truck because the dealers only had leather in bucket seats. It seems like every Laramie had buckets. The person that orders trucks must like buckets or think everyone wanted them. The Bench is a standard item, bucket is an option. Some people said "the bucket seat is more comfortable" but after close evaluation, my bench seat is exactly same as a bucket seat, the center console or "20" is what's different.

I like the bench and I like the fact, that if I need it, I have the seat. but usually I hide paperstuff underneath- my wife's birthday cards, for example, because that's the only place she would never find it.

Default Bench - several reasons

I got the bench just in case I needed to seat 6 - which I did a couple of days after picking up the truck. My friend has the buckets and as it turns out, I like the bench arm rest and storage better. The bench armrest is more comfy; and as noted above, there is a 'secret' storage compartment under the seat as well as the more obvious armrest cover one. That, and the dog likes sitting in the middle between the wife and I.

I need loads of front seat storage, my vehicle is also my office
I like the comfort that the bucket seats give me when i have to drive to places like El Paso from San Diego, that is 12 hours behind the steering wheel, stopping only for fuel, coffee & snacks. San Diego to the Oregon State line & San Diego to Cedar City Utah are about the same drive times the way we are routed

Truck seats are supposed to work this way:

Left side: Driver
Middle (honey seat): Driver's girl
Right side: dog-so he can hang his head out the window

I never got the console thing for a truck. In a sedan, sure-its not wide enough for anyone to sit there. I get useful storage out of mine but would find a bench more useful. Maybe someday I'll go to pick 'n pull and convert it. Only trouble would be the CD player

As for HD trucks there is no single seat choice.
It's like this...

In a lower trim package a G56 trans & manual transfer case shifter is a MUST, thus it gets a bench seat.

In a high end truck like a Limited, an automatic trans with electronic xfer case shift is the way to go, thus it gets bucket seats with a full center console.

I do not see why people seem to think consoles are "higher end" than benches.
