Default Need shocks

Hey Guys and gals I need to put new shocks on my truck but have some dumb questions that I need answers on before I make a decision.

I have a 04 quad cab Hemi with a 6" lift on 37's and air lift in the rear. I need four new shocks and I am not sure what ones I should go with and here is where the stupidity comes in.... How do I know what shocks are made for a truck with a lift or does it matter???

I was told to go with BDS 9500 series. I am thinking this dealer is getting some kind of a kick back on these and that is why he recommends them.

Please help!

Look into the Bilstein 5100, 5125, 5150 series

You have come to the right place. I have Rancho 9000's and like them a lot. Many other folks on this forum think highly of the Billstein 5100s (I have no expereince with BS). Check out their websites. I know Rancho summarizes the truck, year and lift size their shocks will fit.

Also check out the suspension lift manufacturer sites. They also have shocks for sale for different size lifts.

For trucks that are looking to replace their shocks in a lifted application I would go 5100 all the way it is excellent shock. Alot of the "white body" shocks that come in various brands kits are all really the same shock labeled by different companies (with few exceptions). These shocks in no way compare to the quality of a bilstein. If you are looking for the ultimate in performance look into a set of reservoir shocks in either king, fox, or procomp. They will give you the best ride possible on your set up.

Do they make direct fit applications in these reservoir shocks?? The ones I have seen all say custom fit I am certainly looking for a bolt on shock but it would be nice to get the reservoir ones.

The reservoir shocks come in travel lengths so you will need to find out how much travel you need. For instance on my front's i'm running 14" stroke procomp mx6r's and on the back I made a hoop and am also running 14" as well. All depends on where you mount them. Do you have any local 4x4 shops that can measure for you?
