Default Rear Defroster?

This may sound like the dumbest of dumb questions but how can you tell if the rear window is equipped with rear defrost or not? I don't see heating elements running through like I've seen on other vehicles I have owned. I have that push button feature on the vent selection knob that does the heated mirrors. The reason I'm asking is jack seems to happen to the rear window when I push that button. It would seem like a glaring oversight to put heated mirrors on a truck and not rear defrost, especially on a Big Horn which is marketed towards the colder climates. Can anyone offer me any insight? Thanks in advance!

From what I understand, they are not equipped. Like you said only the heated mirrors

Rear window defrost is an option but you have to have a one piece rear window. If you have the center slider you can't have the defrost.

You "may" be able to have the window replaced with one that has the defrost and get it hooked up to the main switch, which would be a cool idea.

Me, I use my remote start and waste the gas and get into a nice warm truck.

Ok, looks like something else I was misinformed of by some who will remain nameless to protect the not so innocent. for posting the correction.

Same here, but the question I have is - where are the heating elements in the slider? My ASSumption was that I just had the heated mirrors since I have the rear slider and a heating element can't be accommodated.....I wasn't aware that sliders could be fitted with a defroster?

Just a bit of an update. While I cold not check on older models, I did go use the "build your own" function on http://ramtrucks.com for the 2011s and the rear defrost requires a solid back window.

The older models may be different. I know my 2010 with sliding window does not have rear defrost, just heated mirrors.

Thanks for the info fellas! I do have the power sliding rear window, though I am still puzzled as to why Dodge would equip a truck with heated mirrors but not rear defroster. Seems as though they would be a package deal. I mean is there someone out there who would want the heated mirrors but NOT the rear defrost??? I would prefer the rear defrost over the heated mirrors quite frankly. It's a lot easier to scrape the ice off the mirrors than it is to scrape it off the rear window.
