Default 97 Cummins swap

Currently I have a 97 Ram 2500 with a 5.9 V8 auto 4X4 ext. shortbox, I know where there is a 97 Ram 3500 chassis 5.9 12 valve Cummins 5 speed 4X4 that was in a small fender bender sitting. The plan is to swap the 12 valve 5 speed 4x4 over and get rid of the V8 auto. So far what i found i'd have to change the steering column, engine mounts, pedal rack, HVAC controls, Speedo console, brake booster for the vacume pump, fuel tank, the hole should already be in the floor for the shift tower, I'll need to put new HD front springs, and a custom driveshaft if i cant get a oem one. The radiator and the intercooler were ruined in the fender bender so i'll need them but thats not a big deal.

I was wondering if any one else every gave this a shot before?. Pretty much the main reason i'm doing it because other people say i can't. Anything can be done, so any input would be very useful
