Default 180 t-stat, for and against lets hear it

OK , I have been doing alot of searches and post reading on the 180 t-stat and I cant seem to get any consistency. I want to hear all opinions from people that are actually using or have used them in the past on our trucks.
My Mods now are CAI, 14" Mufflex, Predator. Im also wondering if the lower temp will help with knock since hemi has a high compresion and is known to have spark knock issues.

thank you

I'll add to your inconsistencies, I have a 180 degree thermostat in my 08 Super Bee but I do not have one in my 10 Ram 1500. The reason I don't have one in the truck is that I only drive this vehicle in the winter and the Bee is driven in the Summer, Fall and Spring if there is any. In the car it helps it run a lot cooler and have had no problems in over 2 years with it.

ive had mine in for last 6 months and love it, didnt really notice any mileage drop, but the extra few ponies from the motor runnin cooler is very nice! temp never gets to half-way point on dash, cant see any reason why someone wouldnt want one.

what I like the most about it is that I saw my oil pressure go up approx 3-4 psi. All the other stuff I dont really care for as much, but I have not one issue with running it in the winter, have logged over 12,000 miles since install back in september. So Id say if the mod bug is only biting for $30..do it! RamTech..thats a good question, I understand the cooler running motor in the hotter months either richens the fuel ratio or advances the timing..any truth in that?

As much as Chrysler teaches us about calculating the fuel curve, the leave us in the dark for the most part about how the timing curve works. I presume it's a fixed curve that will back the timing down when knock is detected. I do know that running anything lower than 89 octane will make the engine more prone to spark knock and timing will be retarded. I think this is why people assume that they get more power by going from 87 to 89 octane fuel.

i have always felt like i do just running 87, with 87 i get a second gear chirp and with 91 i dont, but i do get better gas mileage with 91 on the highway
