Default kenwood double din install

hey there i am new to this forum, and thot i would share a recent experience with you.

i just installed a kenwood dnx9960 double din head unit, in my 2010 dodge ram.

the reason i want to share this is because prior to the install i was on this forum and others researching the install. i found that many 09+ ram owners are cutting their dash and head unit rear support frame to fit the bigger aftermarket double din head units. weakening the dash ( front mount for the deck ) and, leaving the the rear of the unit unsupported, hanging off the front of the unit. to me this is alot of weight to hang off the face of the head unit. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CUT OR REMOVE ANY PART OF YOUR DASH OR ITS SUPPORT COMPONENTS TO FIT THE LARGER AFTERMARKET DOUBLE DIN HEAD UNITS!!!!!!!!!

i will attach two fotos to show what i have dont, neither picture is great, but they show. first off i used a heat gun to make the plastic part of the stereo mount plyable, and then used a small pry bar to push the plastic up, and down to gain the extra half inch of height that is needed to accomodate the aftermarket head unit. becarefull to not heat it up too much, or distort the upper sectcion where the two upper dash screws go. second i basically beat the inner frame open just enuf to fit the head unit, but still be snug on it. and thats bout it. be patient take your time.

Default What did you use?

I'm getting audio equipment together to do a complete install. Any ideas on wire harness adapters for an after market stereo?

What equipment are you going with? I'm wanting the non-Nav version of this head unit, the DDX-896.
