Hey y'all...

Im lookin for some help...

My trans blew on my 99 Ram2500.

I have an 05 Ram trans in my garage & i was wondering if it would work?

Any of you guys know? I am trying really hard to fix it myself, and Im pretty good with this stuff, but i dont wanna drop the trans in & then it wont work...

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think it will work . But I can tell you this much , If it would work , this would of been a fix that all of us 2nd gen Ram owners would of known about .

strange that your tranny blew. did you not do gears? but yea i dont think it will work but i would look at any wiring it may have and line locations. it will probably bolt up to the block but the splines on the output shaft might not be right or the transfer case might not line up or maybe its an electronically controlled tranny and yours is vac. i know nothing about these tranny's really but i know that a used 2500 tranny only cost me 300 bucks and the almost brand new t-case was 150

Your Ram has the 46RE transmission. The one in your garage is a 545RFE and isn't designed to go behing the 5.9 engine. If you don't have a need for the 545RFE, you should easily be able to sell it or trade for a 46RE.

Can you not rebuild the one you have? Or use it as a core for a new reman transmission? The one you have in your garage can be sold too. That would help reduce some of your costs.
