Just my .02 cents here but the highest my '96 1500 (no real lift except 2500 HD leaf springs) ever got was 24.7 mpg driving up and down hills, coasting ALOT and only going about 55 or so. Only things I did before that trip was a tune up and electric fan addition which broke on the way back haha. Did the same thing as far as checking my speedo with a GPS and it was dead on. Come to find out previous owner had put some 33" tires on it and had the dealer change the speedo calibration. I run a 275/60R20s (33") with 50 psi in them. When I put them on they felt a lot lighter then the factory 16" wheels with some 265/70R16. But it could be an illusion because I can grab the inner spokes of the 20s easier.

Anyways all in all I think if you find some light/narrow wheels, pick a decent tire, and keep them inflated, you wont find much difference until you start getting into 33x10.50 and taller/wider tire range.

Yea, stock sport wheels are 72-75lbs
So up to 105lbs is quite a bit.

Mine are 126lbs
But you gotta pay to play. LOL

I still wish I got my stock MPG's though.
Hate filling up more often.

Which is expected for your setup.....but you got a nice looking truck

So when you had 35's on 18's, what were your MPG's and what were you dimensions and specs on that setup?
