What size are the factory speakers in an 2011 1500 Crew Cab? Looking to replace them for something with better low end response. Impressed with the factory for high frequencies but no bass at all.

What size are they, front and back? And, anyone who has replaced them and running factory deck still, what did you install and how do they sound? I don't want to put in an amp and there's not any room for a sub and I am not willing to take up passenger space for one.

Get back to me. Thanks in advance!

Have read they need to be shallow mount? How shallow am I looking at? Saw one post with 3". Is this correct? Would like to stay away from spacers if I could? Is the factory deck enough to power them and get a little more bass out of the system. I don't need a window rattler....just a bt more low end.

Watch your mounting depth. I have not replaced mine yet, but I have read where you need to be picky and watch the measurements (as with all really), mounting depth and tweeter protrusion can present issues. Just want to make you aware before dropping the cash. Chit should be able to confirm that though...

Yes, it's 6x9's front and rear, but the major question......is it the basic radio or the Alpine upgrade?

It's the basic system. Have the uhm... real fancy touch screen h/u minus the nav (all the fancy phone and HDD and DVD features minus Nav)...don't know model number you guys always refer to it as. So have that h/u but not the Alpine sound system. Test drove one with Alpine and was not impressed with it either. Regular one had so quality for the highs pretty much, and Alpine did not offer anything for bass so passed on it.

Some good 6x9s that will give me some decent bass with factory h/u?

I have had subs and amps before so I know I will not get that kind of sound. I am past those days, so I don't care. Just looking for a lil more on the bass than what factory gives. I am impressed with the volume and clarity of the highs and mids, but no bass from factory speakers.

There is a shallow mounting depth yes. If you go with a 6.5" mid, that will offer more mounting options as you can move it higher up in the opening to clear the bracket running through the lower portion of the speaker cutouts. But then you are looking at custom baffles as well.

Told guy at the audio shop what I was looking for. He said, bestbet would be to get a sub. I don't want to do that though and give up any storage or space. Not an option for me! He showed me a "Focal Audio" set up with custom under seat mounting. Would fit under the driver seat nicely, however it is $650!! ahaha

What are opinions on after market 6x9s adding more bass?! I know, obviosuly a sub will add more...but I'm looking to not spend $650, and a conventional sub or giving up space is not an option. Opinions please!!! Will after market 6x9s running off the factory h/u give me more bass?
