Unhappy Temp Gauge Not Working

This is a strange one.
I've had my 1500 now for over five years. When I bought it, the only thing that didnt work was the temperature gauge. The motor had very low mileage 20k miles only. I always check my motor and various people gave me all kinds of theories which usually meant lengthy repairs, so i didnt really bother to fix it. My computer gave up on me end of last year, so while I waited for my new computer, i borrowed one from a friend to keep me on the road. When I plugged in the borrowed computer, to my suprize, and for the first time ever, the temp gauge started to work. Wow, I thought it must have been a malfunction with my old computer.
About a week after using the truck all of sudden the gauge slowly started to not reach maximum temperature, until a few days after didnt come up at all.
I decided it must still be a computer problem so i waited for my new one.

When I recieved and plugged in the new computer, no temp gauge ???

So, if anyone can give me any ideas I would appreciate it.

A faulty sending unit, bad wiring connection, or the gauge itself are most likely to blame. Kinda hard to diagnose without knowing what the PCM is seeing, but since you haven't mentioned any codes, I'm going to assume the sensor itself is ok. My first guess is a bad connection somewhere between the PCM and cluster.
