Default CAI and the Hemi hat ????

I have a 2006 and would like to get a CAI.0 Ive noticed every picture Ive seen the Hemi hat is missing. I would like to get a K&N CAI but I dont want to remove my hemi hat. Is this possible? would I have to go with a diffrent CAI to keep the hemi hat?

THANKS

You could rig on just the cone filter at the end and delete the stock air filter/box. But that wouldnt do much imho I believe the gain from a cai is more in deleting restrictive air hat and zig zag tube. Why dont ya paint and slap on a nice HEMI sticker or stencil on the k+n tube now thatd be better than the stock one itll still say HEMI and youll get some throttle response

Hey Ram4, I've got a stainless CAI installed on my 08, and did not have to remove the cap. It cost me $40- its not a k & n, but its the same filter and pipe. If you'd like a picture I'd be happy to take one for you! If you'd like to know where I got the system, let me know!

Thanks guys

moparmanicac: I wasnt aware that the cap caused any restrictions. I would have to look again but I dont think It has anything to do with the air flow. I just want to hook it up and still leave the cap on there, just cause I like the look.

JwilsYellowRam: Im kinda convinced the K&N is the way to go for me, but Im also open to a diffrent set up aswell. A pic would be great. Also any info on it too, Id like to look into it.

I got it on ebay under dodge ram accessories. You'll see what I'm talking about. Its the same cone filter, just doesn't say k & n.

I can think of at least 3,,,

1. Higher cost to manufacture.
2. Appearance. (some refer to the resonance chambers as 'warts')
3. Sound. If it sounds 'faster', it has to be faster, right?

4th Gens have no reso chambers, but that doesn't slow most folks down from getting an aftermarket CAI anyway.

Heck, I've got an Airaid on mine right now, but that will be coming off this coming summer and the OEm system going back on. The Airaid does not seal up against the hood and my in-town IAT's jumped 20+ degree's,,,

It does look and sound purdy, though!
