Default Pics of Installed MTX Thunderform in 2009 QC

My 2009 Ram 1500 Quad Cab SLT received an un-amplified MTX Thunderform and a Sony XM-GTX6040 amplifier this last weekend. Not a competition stereo by any means, but all I was looking for was a little more bass to the stock head unit and speakers. I have to say, after reading reviews and comments on here, I was a little skepticle, but......but....dang, it sounds great!! The subs a hitting hard for being "cheap-o" 10's, and the "cheap-o" Sony amp has yet to cut-out or overheat!! I drove it hard for (4) 2 Live Crew songs and it stayed strong. So here are some pics for everyone...

1. Underneath rear seat of quad cab...what I had to work with:

2. Tapped the remote power for amp into ignition power outlet (dark blue with pink stripe):

3. Added the fuse holder between battery and the fuse box. Fuse in this Scosche amp kit is 80A:

4. Ran the amp power wire through this gromet on driver side, concealed behind stock wires:

5. Other side of gromet, entering into truck:

6. Tapped into the speaker wires behind pillars on driver and passenger sides. Ran wires under carper to the converter under center console:

7. Amp power wire and remote power wire run under carpet on driver side:

8. Amp power wire and remote power underneath the driver seat:

9. Speaker wire from amp was run under carpet to this carpet "knockout" underneath rear quad cab seat:

10. Ground wire hooked to driver seat belt bolt and run under carpet to amp location:

11. Sony XM-GTX6040 amp under driver seat:

12. Output converter installed under center seat/console:

13. I left enough slack to be able to pull out and adjust, and the carpet covers it nicely...out of site out of mind:

14. Here is the un-amplified Thunderform loaded with (2) 10" woofers. I wish the grey matched better, but it's under the seat so I'm not worried about it:

15. I thought I was going to raise the rear seat a bit, but it turns out there is plenty of space without:

So there you have it. I like installs that are basically hidden amongst the stock features, so I really feel like I was able to do that. The hardest and most time consuming portion of this install was by far running the wires under the carpet. My hands and arms have the scratches to prove it!! Oh, and figuring out where/which ignition power supply to hook the remote to.

The future will hold new speakers for the doors, possibly a more expensive/quality amp for the subs, and in-dash DVD player/navigation unit.

Yeah I just saw your install pics....sorry for trying to steal your thunder! But no, I like you set-up. I went simple on mine, but I have a feeling the stereo mod bug will keep biting me!

Wow that looks great. Very clean install!

As far as the stereo mod bug maybe it's time for a good aftermarket amp, some component speakers and a nice touch screen for up front?

I'm just sayin...

Really does sound great....not a 3000 watt JL system, but it gets moving!! Like I said, some of the reviews were not very positive, but it's exactly what I was looking for.
