Default Winches?

Hey guys,

Anyone come up with a winch mount using the existing stock bumper, chrome or SLT or Sport? I'm not a fan of the after market bumpers they have out there and don't want another embarrassment of being pulled out by a toyota again : (

actually I did. What happened was... approaching a minor puddle 3-5in deep, walk right though. on the way back, same puddle accept this puddle was clay with a 4 foot whole dug into it, all rutted out - I hung up on the frame.

here ya go http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...3936.798872821

On my Rams, I have not used heavy duty bumpers (I have on on my H3 with a Warn winch).

As an alternative to a bumper mounted winch, which can only be done with the right heavy duty, larger bumper, you can use a different mounting system. For all my Rams and other pick-ups, I use hitch mounted Warn winches in the front and back. You have probably seen them, they sit in your trucks hitch receiver and then get power with a male-female plug set-up. The down side is you need hitch receivers and the winch should be removed from the truck when not anticiapted it will be used.

I have found them to work great. I typically go with a 9,000k lb rear and 12,000k lb front. Check out Warn and Superwinch and you will see the options they offer.

A huge advantage with these type of winches is you can move them from vehicle to vehicle and really just need one as you can manually move them from front to back as needed. All vehciles that will use them only need the electrical hook-ups, which are cheap and easy to install (there is a solenoid and a cable that runs from the battery to the hitch). I have the ability to use 2 since I snow plow, which make the front unusable during much of the winter so I need the rear (I have all types of slip blocks and other tricks to make the winch reverse directions, etc.). Also, the 9,000 winch is much easier to manuever than the 12,000. My preference when off-roading is use the front winch.

Have you looked into the winch mount that is offered on the Power Wagon? Given that you have a gas motor, you should be able to put the power wagon winch mount on there with no problems. I looked into one for my truck, but since mine is a diesel, the intercooler gets in the way of the winch mount. The Power Wagon winch mount installs behind the stock bumper, and looks really clean. Might want to check that out as an option.

I was woundering the same thing. If anyone has measured or looked at putting a winch behing a 2010 sport front bumper. I've been wanting to go look at a power wagon to see if I could modify the mounting bracket to fit my 1500.
