Default Question for the MyGig Guru's

My 10 has a the RBZ non-nav radio in it. I called the dealer today to see if the RHB Garmin based Nav radio from a 2011 could be put in. The parts guy did a bunch of digging on the computer and said it cannot be put in a 2010 but did not know why.

So, being a former Crew Chief in the AF, there is no such thing as "cannot be put in", it just may need some finesse.

What I need to know is the reason behind Dodge saying the radio can't be put in a 2010. Is it wiring? Is it the mounting? Or????

The way I figure things, they'll start being available in salvage yards soon so I want to see what I can find. But I'm not going to go into it blindly.

I know I'll need all the Nav related parts, the head unit, the radio itself. But there's a lot of unknowns.

A wiring diagram with color coding of both the RBZ and the RHB would be really helpful. Plus the mounting details of both.

If I'm missing something, please tell me.

If you use our allgig and the av cable you can add a garmin gvn53. It will display the navigation info on the radio screen and you will control it with the remote that comes with the garmin. The av cable gives you an audio video in/out put that will allow you to do this. We have customers do it all the time. Thanks for the message, I hope this helps.

Beer,

I reread your post. I have sold allgigs to customers with rams with both the rhb and the rbz radio so I don't know why you couldn't put the radio you want in your truck. Do you already have the radio? Why not look for a rer version, it has way less problems then the newer rhb and rbz.

Susanne,

To my knowledge, the RER is not the Garmin based nav system, it is the old nav which I have little to no use for. However, the RER is compatible with the 2010.

I'm trying to find out why Dodge says the RHB will not work in the 2010.

I'm not convinced that it won't work. Parts people have no training on the electrical and networking systems in these vehicles. From what I can see on the diagrams, it should work. The pinouts appear to be the same for the connectors on all radios.
