The air tubes hook up with your pollution pump. Until your engine gets to operating temp the pump draws exhaust gases and recycles it through the intake via EGR valve. The air tubes are not a necessity for your truck to run properly, but don't plug them. But if your inspection mechanic wants to be a dick, he can fail you for them not being hooked up.

My air pump doesnt recycle the gases, it just puts extra oxygen down into the cat to help recycle? or uh burn the gases to be less pollutive =p any ways as far as the inspection, dont have to worry about it lol.......

The new cats are in! without air tubes....the cats were supposedly high flow but! they are def high flow now if you know what i mean lol Thanks fellas! if you want a video or pics lemme kno! Kev

A video would be awesome. We hardly ever see v10 postings here.

Factors such as backpressure can cause your vehicle to lose power and could slow down or damage your exhaust due to excess heat retention. MagnaFlow's Cat-Back System features their WideOpen performance mufflers which will greatly reduce backpressure.

now if I was to cut out my cats, what would I do with the above mentioned air tubes? Ive heard some guys just rerouting them into the exhaust pipe but heard if you really get into the throttle it could cause back firing. Just what my exhaust guy told me...any truth to this? If so I digress to my original quesiton...what to do with them?

my air tubes just end on top of my muffler, not connected. i had one cat blow litteraly off on the highway and drove straight to the exhaust shop to have the second one cut off. kid behind the counter told me the only muffler they have found success with on any v-10 because of the firing order is a magnaflow dual inlet straight through with dual exit. it is bassically an x-pipe inside a muffler shell. it sounds deep but not too loud. it is a straight through exhaust with no cats and it sounds good. real deep, not too loud but now it sounds like a truck. before it sounded like my old tacoma.

my air tubes are just sitting wide open and i run my truck in the mud all the time no issues. you can punch out cats by taking them off (safest method) and shoving a hammer handle or something similar in there to break out all the honeycomb. if you do it in the truck make sure you get it all out before reattaching or debris could jam into your muffler. when it comes to back pressure you dont want the exhaust to be too free on a fuel injected engine. they need some back pressure or youll lose power.. trust me. i know a guy that ended up with a 19 second 1/4 mile in a v6 camaro after getting straight pipes. most mufflers give you the back pressure needed to keep power even if cats are removed.

I put 2 glass packs on my truck- I also Learned that removing the cats
Makes it slower than with them on- I put them back on without the airtubes
Connected and My truck is quicker now. It is still a slower version of my
03 5.7 hemi truck but it looks mean!! Lol
